Tuesday by the sea

Another beautiful, hot day - swimming and cycling. Maros went by paddle board across to Korcula and back - over 3km. Katka and I cycled to Orebic along the lovely seaside road for a coffee and some shopping. Oliver and Maros cycled to the sunset chapel. We all swam in the clear warm sea. We watched Antony Boy TV which means watching the other people in the camp - always interesting.
In the evening we sat and drank spritzers and talked. Highlights were - for Maros paddle-boarding to Korcula, for Frances and Katka iy was coffee in Orebic.

Monday in the sun

Another great day in Viganj. This is a windsurfing and kite surfing centre for a reson. The winds that blow here are the jugo from the south, the bora from the north and mistral from the west. Maros and Oliver were windsurfing this afternoon and we saw a man learning to kite surf get pulled over and dragged over the rocks on his bare back.

Katka and I went for a brilliant 26 km bike ride over the hill to Loviste on the other side of the peninsular. The road was marked as a 9% climb up 257m . We also ate delicious ripe figs from a tree at the side of the road on the way and blackberries. At Loviste there was an older lady doing her exercises on the jetty in her bikini looking out over the water.

In the evening we had a glass of Cornelian cherry schnapps with our Polish neighbours. Today's highlights were for Maros - teaching Oliver to windsurf, for Oliver learning to bring the board back to the point that he set off from, for Katka and I it was our Loviste bicycle trip.

Sunny Sunday

It was hot even in the night and hot from the early morning. After breakfast we cycled to the shop to pick up supplies and cooled off with a swim. We had a lovely relaxed lunch and a drowsy siesta. The boys went off to windsurf and we had another swim. After a pancake supper, Katka and I cycled to a small chapel the edge of the peninsular to watch the sunset. The cycle ride through Viganj is always so interesting - full of life with bikes, segueways, hoverboards, scooters, prams, dogs on leads, dogs without leads, walkers, strollers, kids hopping, waiter racing across the road with trays of food, and so on.
Best part of the day for Maros and Oliver was the windsurfing and for Katka and I it was the sunset bike ride.

Sunny Saturday

A lovely day by the sea - swimming, snorkelling, cycling and windsurfing. We cycled to Orebic along the beautiful coast and had a coffee. We had a nice lunch and in the hot early afternoon read our books. The boys went windsurfing and Katka and I cycled up the steep road to the Fransiscan monastery and enjoyed the fantastic views over the sea. In the evening we had a great meal at Bistro Ponta. The camp is full of happy people enjoying the sun and sea. Oliver and Maros enjoyed best their windsurfing and drone flying. Katka and I enjoyed best the bike ride up to the monastery.

Friday Night

After supper we all went for a walk along the seafront. Oliver had his scooter and was great at jumps and turns and slides. We had a beer on the beach and then made our way passed kids fishing, pentanque, the old stone houses, ice cream parlours and the bakery and campsites and live music and fishing boats. It was a lovely evening.

Arrival in Viganj

We woke up bright and early, had breakfast and set off for the last 200km and the ferry from Plose to Peljasac. The journey was fine and we had great views of the coast and sea. It lasted about an hour. Kamil and Andrea met us in Trpanj where they had been staying. We had a nice fish lunch with them in a local restaurant and then we set off for Viganj. We are staying in Antony Boy campsite. We have a nice spot about 50m from the sea. Katka and Maros have set up camp perfectly. We have the Swedish carpet, the brilliant table, the clever awning. I have a tent which Maros set up for me.
We've all been in the sea and Oliver and Maros have been windsurfing. Katka has been on the paddle board. All is fine and we are looking forward to enjoying our holiday.
Best things today - everyone agrees it is the sea!

Off to Peljesac

Today Maros drove us 850km. We took Sasa to meet Misko near Bratislava. Then we crossed into Hungary at Komarno and stopped for lunch just over the border. Then we drove down passed Lake Balaton and into Croatia. We drove around Zagrab and down towards the turn off to Split. There we stopped at a petrol station for a bit of wild camping. There was a fierce wind as we crossed the Croatian mountains. Other than that Mrnos II is comfortable and pleasant to travel in and sleep in.
Best things - Oliver crossing the Danube, Katka - our comfortable sleeping quarters, Frances - our shots of drienkovica when we stopped driving (schnapps from Cornelian cherries).
