In search of Emona

Emona was the name of the Roman town that preceded Ljubljana. I went to the city museum to learn more - I even met a Roman centurian!

Wednesday - a private boat ride

After visiting the castle I chartered a private boat to see the city from the water - well, not exactly a private boat. Just no one else turned up, so it was just me and the skipper. 

Wednesday - a full day

After breakfast I visited the Dragon bridge and climbed up to the castle. Great views over the city to the mountains.

Jazz on a Wet Tuesday Evening

In the evening I walked to Jazz Club Gajo for a concert

Veronika Kumar & Rok Zalokar Duo - 

a singer and a pianist doing laid-back classics. The place was full and there was a real mix of ages and nationalities. It was raining as I left so I got a taxi back. 

It wasn't easy to find a disco glitter ball in Ljubljana but I managed!

The Museum of Modern Art

Another great museum with an informative collection. Also has a great cafe. 

The Slovenian National Gallery

I just visited the 19th and 20th century rooms. I really liked the portraits by Ivana Kobilca.
