Arzua to Salceda

Today we have done 12km with quite a bit of rolling hills and mossy valley. The Norte camino route met the Frances in Arzua so there are more people on the route with us. As we set off from Penzion Luis this morning we had a group of chanting Mexicans with their priest behind us. Mum fell into step with them and shot up the hill. At the top they told Mum she was their hero.
We enjoyed our walk through the woods and villages - it was perfect walking weather. We stopped for cafe con leche and a bit of pilgrim TV. Then we walked on for an hour till we found the perfect picnic spot where we enjoyed our cheese, chorizo, tomato and bread picnic with a plum to finish off.
Then we went on and stopped at a cafe where we met a nice American who was just completing the Frances from SJPdP. She persuaded Mum and me to have our pictures taken by Michael the photographer. Then we did the last leg to Albergue Turistico Salceda where we have two rooms and five beds - five! This amazed the receptionist. Now we are resting. It grew hotter at the end and Mum was tired when we arrived.
