We had pastries and black tea for breakfast at the flat. Then we set off for a 10km walk to Lavacolla. We started just after 8 to avoid the heat later which helped. The path had plenty of other pilgrims on it including the French family with 4 kids and two donkeys that Casey said she had met. After a long climb we sat for a rest with some stall holders from Chile and ate plums and we were given Santiago wrist bands. Soon after we reached the edge of Santiago. We had a little picnic beside a chapel and climbed the last hill to Lavacolla. We are staying in Hostal San Piao which seems to be a former staging post - nice and comfortable after our walk.
